The format for the year end tournament is individual play and is as follows:
The tournament begins with round robin play using handicaps and player's ranking at the end of the season. The winner of each game will be awarded 10 points while the handicap differential (ie the difference between the two player's handicaps) will be added to their ball count to a maximum of 10 points if it is the player with the lower handicap that loses the game.
For example, Player A has a handicap of 9.1 while Player Z has a handicap of 6.1 equating to a differential of 3.0 for the game. Player A wins the game and is awarded 10 points while Player Z potted 5 balls. Since Player Z has the lower handicap, the differential is added to the 5 and thus Player Z has 8 total points for this match. Conversely if it was Player Z that won the game, they would have 10 points while Player A having potted 5 balls would be awarded just the 5 points since they have the higher handicap.
Upon completion of round robin play, all players will be seeded into the weekend bracket using the total amount of the points they garnered in round robin play. Should there be two players with the same amount of points in the round robin ties will be broken by the lower seed going to the player with the most +/- points. The weekend bracket will then be played without handicaps.
The bracket is a three round guarantee format with all but the last few matches single games with the break determined by a coin toss.
The final few matches of the bracket will be best out of three. |
